SANTA ANA, CA – In the heart of Orange County, Santa Ana stands as a family-oriented town filled with historic city homes, and attractions such as the Santa Ana Zoo, Bowers Museum full of incredible Native American art, and the Discovery Cube Orange County, an interactive children’s museum. With the combined effort of LPA Architects, Swinerton Builders, and Griffin Structures this project was delivered five months ahead of schedule resulting in a savings of $5 million to the County. SINAK VC-5 contributed to this fantastic time and cost savings by more than $1.25 per square foot in product costs alone. That’s not including the 5 – 7 days saved on each of the more than 20 concrete pours. The new building is part of a multiphase building project that will see its sister building, Building 14, open in 2022. Once constructed, the two buildings will house over 1,500 County employees. The first building will house approximately 950 employees and the second building will house approximately 650 employees.

LPA has been specifying SINAK materials for more than 20 years mainly in their landscape packages. In 2016, during a lunch and learn at LPA’s Sacramento office VC-5 was introduced and soon after as added to LPA’s master specification. For Sergio Estrada, Swinerton’s Lead Project Manager on the job, this was his first encounter with SINAK’s VC-5. After a few meetings and site visits, Sergio decided to use VC-5 as a more cost effective and time saving option in lieu of the other product option. The ground floor application went flawlessly resulting in Swinerton’s use of VC-5 across the entire project. Today, SINAK VC-5 is now the basis of design for the Swinerton Self Perform Concrete Team’s Best Practices manual. Beyond the mere factor of eliminating moisture related flooring failures, additional benefits such as eliminating cracks on the upper decks, elimination of slab curl, and the low product cost all contribute to Swinerton’s continued use of SINAK products.

With the help of SINAK’s ultra-environmentally friendly products, Building 16 was designed to meet Essential Services Buildings Seismic Safety Act standards and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Silver certification standards. For over 40 years SINAK has been pioneering the latest technologies to replace the outdated methods of concrete installation. Our vision is to drive change through innovation by eliminating a $2.4 billion a year flooring failure problem. With SINAK you will never have a reason to remediate again.

“Every time I use VC-5 I can’t believe how well our pandecks turn out. There’s never any cracking or curling.”
