The Student Recreation Center (SRC), which opened on January 26, 2012, is a 138,000 square foot facility for exercise and leisure activity that promotes lifelong health and wellness. The eco-friendly facility is jam packed with the most up-to-date equipment, a friendly and welcoming staff, and tons of school spirit. The SRC features state-of–the-art weight and fitness zones, a rock wall, locker rooms, a 3-court gymnasium, a multi-activity court, fitness and group exercise studios, a racquetball court, an indoor track and recreational/lap swimming pool. The SRC is where the California State University, Northridge Matadors Play.

Since its opening in 2012, the Student Recreation Center has been garnering awards for everything from its design to its energy efficiency. The SRC has been recognized by the Los Angeles Business Council for outstanding architectural design in education, has received the SCUP Excellence Award in 2014, a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Status Certification in 2013 and the AIA San Fernando Valley Design Award in 2009.
