Valued at over $600 million, Salt Lake City’s new Water Reclamation Facility represents a transformative investment in the region’s future. Replacing a 55-year-old system, the facility will provide reliable, sustainable wastewater treatment for more than 200,000 residents and businesses across a 110-square-mile area—nearly doubling capacity to meet growing demand while improving environmental performance.

Designed to meet modern seismic standards and reduce nutrient discharge into local waterways, the project sets a new benchmark for resilient, environmentally responsible infrastructure. By adopting innovative construction methods that accelerated timelines and conserved significant water resources, the project team not only improved efficiency but reinforced the facility’s long-term sustainability goals.

Once complete, the WRF will play a critical role in protecting public health, preserving natural resources, and supporting continued growth across the Salt Lake City community.
